FREELANCER

5/5 - A fun read that portrays a realistic, yet fascinating, view of what software development in the future may become. As a programmer, I dream of programming being this creative and fun!

It’s a solid read and a great first book from a budding author!

I wrote Freelancer a year and a half ago and it was my first full novel. I loved the story but I knew it needed a lot of work so I set it on the shelf until a few of my early readers kept bothering me about it. A few revisions and a grueling Kindle Scout campaign later Freelancer is finally finished. Freelancer is my first novel and I hope you find it as special as I do.

Kari is a freelance hacker, taking jobs from clients to design anything from art to security software. In a world where 3D printers, drones, and computers connect directly to the brain, Kari finds keeping her expert programing skills secret while trying to finish high school almost impossible. With the threat of the second Civil War looming, Kari must decide how far she will go to keep herself, her family, and her friends out of harm’s way, even when her choices might have consequences she's not ready to face.

5/5 - Interesting story of a hacker – in the future where technology is so integrated into people’s lives – and the innate human desire to freely create continues.

The Unseen

Everything was bigger/better/more dangerous than Freelancer
5/5 - Another winning Kindle Scout book. I loved Freelancer, the first book of this dystopian series, and The Unseen met my high expectations and more. Author Jake Lingwall wove a powerful tale of intrigue and high tech wizardry that had me reading at darn near warp speeds. Nicely done!

In this sequel to Freelancer, Kari Tahe returns in her role of freelance hacker in a world where 3D printers, drones, and computers connect directly to the brain. With the Civil War still raging and the leaders of the warring factions assassinated, Kari must use her programming skills and devout sense of justice to protect her family. Recruited into the underground world of the Unseen, Kari hopes to help end the violence, but even this hidden hacker community is not immune from treachery.

The final chapter in the Freelancer series is here. And it’s the best book in the series.
